Owen Ladd found solar the way most Vermonters find things worth doing: by getting his hands on it. He spent two years helping homeowners go solar in Vermont — a state where winters are long, electricity is precious, and nobody signs anything until they trust you. That's where he learned the way he still works today: explain it plainly, prove it with numbers, and let the homeowner decide.
Three years ago, Owen moved down to Connecticut, where electric rates run among the highest in the country and the need for real energy answers is even greater. He brought the Vermont approach with him, and Connecticut homeowners responded the same way Vermont's did — by trusting him with their homes, then telling their neighbors.
Over five years and two states, more than 100 families have gone solar with Owen — and the number that matters most to him is how many stay in touch after the install. Customers regularly ask Owen to stay on as their main point of contact long after the paperwork is done, and he always says yes. One recent Google review put it best: “They also helped outside of their scope of work as I wanted them to be my primary contact and they happily agreed.”
As a Team Leader, Owen now helps lead and train the NEES sales team, passing on the habits that built his track record: show up prepared, never oversell, and treat every home like it belongs to someone you know. Because in a region this tight-knit, it usually does.
